Leh-Ladakh Workshop 2023

Landscape and Astrophotography is a genre which fascinates a lot of people all around the globe.

The best images coming out of this genre can be extremely technical and requires mastering of all three levels of photography: composition, execution and post-processing. For the un-initiated, the techniques and the art of landscape photography can often be daunting. However, for an expert, or for an amateur, it all starts with the visualization of an image, the observation and finally the snap of the shutter.

And if all the stars-align (pun-intended) it can result in breath-taking imagery.

On the flip side of the coin, our planet is undergoing severe changes. From the global warming to shifting gulf streams due to pollution, the ice-caps are melting. The mighty Himalayan glaciers are also changing for the worse, and if we are not careful, these spectacular landscapes that we see and adore might not be there for our next generations to appreciate.

The night sky also is slowly and steadily being destroyed by thousands of artificial satellites. And of course, truly dark skies are very, very hard to come by: thanks to industrialization and commercialisation of even the most inaccessible of places. Therefore, its absolutely essential that we spread awareness about the destruction our planet is going through, using the medium which stands the test of time: photography.

Keeping above points in mind, myself and Manas Das are thrilled to announce a workshop in the far reaches of Northern Himalayas, Leh-Ladakh. Leh and Ladakh are hamlets which are surrounded by Himalayan mountains all around, with cold deserts and some tranquil blue lakes in between making conditions perfect of stunning light: be it at golden hour or during flat light conditions.

This is also a place where you can get possibly the best night skies in India, with dedicated India's first dark sky reserve to ensure there is no artificial light pollution interfering with the natural starlight.

Our workshop is designed to ensure that you get the best possible photographing opportunities and time. We will be guiding you from zero to the final product when you click the shutter button and onto guiding you for post processing of your images for Milky Way images, Star Trails and a lot of other exciting images. Looking forward to participants from every corner, hoping you will be a part of our initiative.
